How Does it Work?

The decision to start psychotherapy can be intimidating and overwhelming.  It’s important to take time to find the therapist who will be a good fit for you.  Before scheduling an initial intake appointment with me, I would encourage you to first call or email me to ask any questions you might have.  You can also set up a phone consultation below.

Step 1:

Schedule your Free Consultation

Feel free to set up a complimentary 30-minute phone consultation.  This will allow you to share about what brings you to therapy and give us a chance to discuss which treatment options that will best meet your needs.  If you feel we are a good match and decide that you would like to proceed with psychotherapy, we will set up our initial intake appointment, which will take place as a video visit.  

Step 2:

Our Initial Intake Appointment

During our first video appointment, we will go deeper into what you have been struggling with and come up with a treatment plan.  My intention is to listen with compassion and to get a better understanding of what you are going through.  I will ask about the current stressors impacting your well being and assess for any disorders that you may need specific tools to manage.  I will gather information about your childhood and inquire about any history of abuse, trauma, or domestic violence.  You will only be expected to share what you feel comfortable disclosing.  It is my job to serve you, and you are always in control of what you feel safe revealing.

Step 3:

Ongoing Treatment

Following the initial intake, you will be ready for ongoing therapy sessions. Depending on your needs, you will be scheduled for individual, couples or group therapy.  You are welcome to participate in group therapy while you are doing individual or couples sessions at the same time.  You may also choose group psychotherapy as the primary treatment modality, in lieu of individual or couples work.
